Clinic Agro is a company that specialises in designing technological solutions to solve critical problems faced by farmers and contribute to the achievement of MDG 2. It has developed two applications: Clinic Plant and Clinic Soil, which can be used to detect plant diseases and analyse soils, respectively.

Clinic Soil: A new way to anticipate your crops

Rostand Simeu is a Cameroonian farmer. He is 26 years old and his farming project has completely ruined him. Farming is part of his life and he has put all his savings into setting up a field of different types of bananas. But, like thousands of Cameroonian farmers, his production is struggling to produce good results. Indeed, post-harvest losses (PHL) are one of the major problems in African agriculture. They account for 37% of production and are valued at 48 billion $.

Rostand has no choice. If he wants to save his field, he must find a solution. Having He heard about a certain Cameroonian startup that helps farmers like himself solve their problems, and decided to find out more.

It is about Clinic Agrothe technology startup created by Pyrrus Koudjou KOUOPLONGa agripreneur Cameroon. To help farmers, especially those in remote areas, improve their crops and easily increase their yields, the company has developed an innovative kit: Clinic Soil.

Clinic Sol, a mobile application that plays guessing games?

Clinic Soil has a rather impressive way of working: it carries out an instant analysis of the soil and suggests crops adapted to the type of soil. Magic or riddle? Nothing of the sort. Clinic Sol is equipped with a solid database of different soil types, on their characteristicsand technical elements essential for soil detection and analysis. In 60 seconds on the clock, Clinic Sol analyses and detects arable land. The multilingual (French, EnglishThe device consists of a box with indicators, as well as sensors. The sensors are introduced into a mixture of distilled water and soil to be analysed. The data is then sent to the mobile terminal as the analysis proceeds. Moreover, from a simple photo, the application can in fact process, compare with its database and provide reliable results on suspected problems and diseases, and suggest appropriate crops as appropriate.

The case of Rostand Simeu was solved in this way. His soil was of poor quality and too acidic for growing bananas. The application Clinic Sol advised him to focus on crops such as aubergines, pineapples, cassava and lettuce. The latter was delighted to enter into a partnership with Clinic Agro; a way for him to expand his plantations and to benefit from the expertise of Clinic Agro for better harvests.

Clinic Agro: a new lease of life for farmers

Knowing your soil means being able to secure your investment, reduce the use of pesticides and the cost of inputs, and improve productivity and profitability of agriculture. This is the adage of Pyrrus Koudjou. What motivated him to set up Clinic Sol, a innovative solution for farmers.

Indeed, in just one year since its creation, the mobile kit has tested the soil quality of nearly a thousand farms in Cameroon.

10 application kits Clinic Soil of Clinic Agro entirely designed in Cameroon have been sent to various agricultural sectors, not only in the country, but also abroad, notably in Burkina Faso, Togo, the DRC and France. 1200 hectares of land have already been analysed since February 2021.

Clinic Plant, a new way to reduce post-harvest losses

If Clinic Sol analyses the soil and is able to deduce which crops are suitable, Clinic Plant, on the other hand, analyses a crop for disease. With this new technology, farmers will be able to know exactly what is eating away at their crops and what the appropriate solution is. Clinic Plant relies on a photo for its analysis. Its success rate is from 50% at the time of its release to 70%. The team is still working on more accurate results. Launched in a test phase with 500 farmersthe application Clinic Plant is already proving itself and Pyrrus Koudjou is already planning to launch the option for animals to better identify animal diseases and reduce losses in the livestock sector. This is a new opportunity for breeders and farmers.

Who is Pyrrus Koudjouthe creator of Clinic Agro ?

He passes the torch to his grandson, Pyrrusa multiple winner of economic initiatives in Africa and Europe - such as Med Innovation Africa - who manages to go beyond the dream by developing Clinic Agro.
