Are you a passionate, creative and ambitious cultural entrepreneur based in Chad? Do you want to develop your career in the film, audiovisual, fashion or digital sectors? Then the "Création Africa Tchad" support programme is for you!

The support programme in brief

  • Total duration : 12 months (including 4? months of incubation and 4? months of acceleration)
  • Format: Virtual classes, coaching/mentoring sessions, group and individual workshops, face-to-face weeks, masterclasses and autonomous training on a dedicated mobile application.

Objectives of the "Création Africa Tchad" support programme

As part of the Fonds Création Africa Tchad supported by the French Embassy in Chad, in partnership with the Institut français du Tchad, the "Création Africa Tchad" support programme aims to support the dynamism of the region's entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI). Operated by a consortium of players specialising in the incubation and acceleration of entrepreneurial projects in the CCI sector in Africa, the incubator Wenaklabs (Chad), Fanaka&Co (France) and LAFAAAC (France), the initiative is supported by a Chadian Steering Committee made up of experts from the CCI sectors. The aim of the programme is to provide a comprehensive framework for action and support, including themed training sessions and coaching sessions with the best national and international experts, to facilitate the launch and scaling-up of the projects selected in the call for applications.

Conditions of eligibility

  1. The candidate must be based in Chad, where the project will be deployed;
  2. Candidates must be over 18 years of age;
  3. The candidate must be available for the entire duration of the programme, i.e. 12 months, starting in November 2023;
  4. Applicants must have a project at the emergence or seed stage;
  5. Projects must be in one of the following sectors: film & audiovisual, fashion & design, and live performance;
  6. Applicants must be in agreement with the values and objectives of the programme and its partners;

Selection criteria

  1. Relevance of the project: Does the project respond to a specific need or challenge in the CCI sector in Chad? Is it relevant to the target audience?
  2. Innovation & Originality: Does the project present an innovative concept, idea or solution? Does it stand out from existing offers on the market?
  3. Economic viability: Does the project have a clear and feasible economic model? Can it generate income and become self-sufficient in the long term?
  4. Social & Cultural Impact: Does the project have the potential to generate a positive impact on society, promote Chadian culture or improve access to culture?
  5. Project team: Does the team behind the project have the skills, experience and passion needed to bring the project to fruition?
  6. Marketing strategy: Does the project have a clear and effective marketing strategy to reach its target audience?
  7. Potential for scalability: Does the project have the potential to grow and extend to other markets or regions, or to diversify?

Timetable for the call for applications

  • 2 October: call for applications opens
  • 28 October: call for applications closes
  • 28-7 November: projects assessed by a panel of experts
  • 8 November: announcement of the winners

As such, we provide support for project leaders, from ideation to start-up, by providing them with physical co-working spaces, dedicated offices and co-creation laboratories (FabLab and Medialab).

As a training organisation, WenakLabs offers high-quality digital training courses with innovative content and teaching methods, aimed at students, retraining professionals and the general public of all types and ages.

 

LAFAAAC

LAFAAAC, The Académie Franco-Anglophone des Arts Audiovisuels et du Cinéma is an international digital and collaborative training platform for jobs in the creative and cultural industries.

LAFAAAC trains young media professionals in Africa in audiovisual professions, using digital tools and innovative teaching approaches.

We publish training courses for TV, radio, film and the web, covering fiction, entertainment and news.

Our courses are accessible via a dedicated mobile application (free of charge and accessible offline). They allow you to learn and practise, and can be supplemented by virtual classroom sessions with tutored work. The entire offering is supported by an online platform with associated services (access to information, jobs, professional networking, etc.). We work in partnership with schools, training centres and media groups in Africa to make training more accessible and tailored to users' needs.

 

French Institute

Situated on one of the busiest roads in N'Djamena, between the city centre and the university quarter, the French Institute in Chad offers cultural and artistic activities in a welcoming environment open to all.

The activities of the French Institute in Chad are implemented on a daily basis through training, production, dissemination and promotion of various cultural and artistic fields, at local, regional and international level.
